Camera, imports, and Photos access

The prepared app uses Camera permission for its live preview and capture. It requests add-only Photos permission when saving new media. If access is unavailable, check ReefCam’s permissions in iOS Settings. Importing a photo or watermark logo uses Apple’s picker and the items you select.

Still-photo capture and imports are free in the prepared build. Captures are added to Photos when saving succeeds. Confirm an important result is present in Photos before removing local copies or the app.

Silent video and planned pricing

Video is silent and does not request microphone access. The prepared build records portrait clips up to three minutes, using SDR output capped at a 1280-pixel long edge. Device frame delivery, thermal behavior, and physical output quality still need validation.

Video Unlock is planned as a U.S. $2.99 one-time purchase with no subscription. Open Video or Settings → Video to find the prepared unlock screen. It includes Restore Purchases for eligible Apple purchase access. Live product availability and signed sandbox purchase behavior remain unverified; no purchase is being offered by this website.

If a save or recording is interrupted

Open Saved locally to inspect retained media. Use Save to Photos to retry a save or Share local copy to copy it to a destination you choose. Sharing can leave the local file in place; use Remove copy separately when ready.

A partial interrupted movie may not be playable. Camera interruption, backgrounding, critical thermal conditions, and the clip-duration limit can end a recording. Recovery is best-effort. Avoid deleting the app as a first troubleshooting step when it holds media you need.

The prepared build checks for more than 300 MB of available storage before capture and blocks new captures when retained pending media reaches 500 MB. Save or share retained work, confirm the destination copy, and remove local copies you no longer need.

Color modes and recalibration

Auto aims to reduce a scene-dependent blue cast. Calibrated uses a validated neutral reference on its original lens; Pop is a separate creative look. Recalibrate after changes to lighting, phone, lens, or optics. A replacement phone of the same model also needs a fresh reference. Real-tank color accuracy remains unverified.

Local review, metadata, and backups

Session review keeps up to thirty photos and three clips. Older review copies may be removed as more captures are made, when a new camera session is created, or by iOS. Use Photos or a chosen destination for anything you want to keep.

Original or imported image metadata, including existing location data, may be preserved. System backups may include app data and pending media; Photos follows your iCloud Photos settings. See the privacy policy for details.
